Questions & answers
Getting listed and claiming
Is it really free to be listed?
Yes. Every business gets a free listing automatically: your name, address, phone, website link and a place in search results. No card, no signup, and it never changes.
How do I claim my listing?
Open Business Login, search for your business, and submit a claim with a free account. Claiming confirms you're connected to the business and is the first step to advertising.
How do I correct something in my listing?
Contact us and tell us what needs to change, such as your hours, phone number or website. We'll update your listing for you.
How long does approval take?
We review every claim to confirm you're connected to the business, and approve it within 1–2 business days.
Do I need a credit card?
Only if you choose to advertise. Listing and claiming are free, with no card required.
Pay-per-click advertising
What counts as a click, and what does it cost?
A click is someone choosing Visit Website on your listing. The founding rate is $1.00 per click for your first 90 days. Viewing your listing, hours or description never costs you anything.
What if someone clicks my link 300 times: am I on the hook for all of it?
No. Your monthly budget is a hard cap. Once you reach it, we stop counting new billable clicks until your budget resets the following month.
What about fake or automated clicks?
We filter automated traffic. If we later find invalid clicks, we credit them.
Will my rate go up later?
The $1.00 founding rate applies for your first 90 days as an advertiser. Standard rates apply after that, and you'll always be notified before a rate change affects you.
Billing
Is my payment information safe?
Yes. Payments are handled by Stripe, which is certified as a PCI Service Provider Level 1, the most stringent level in the payments industry. You enter your card in a secure Stripe form, so we never see or store your full card number. We only keep the card brand and last four digits so you can recognize your card.
When am I charged?
Once a month, to the card you've saved with us, for that month's clicks. We never charge more than your monthly budget.
Will I get a receipt?
Yes. You'll get an emailed receipt each month showing your clicks and the amount charged.
What if my card is declined?
You won't lose clicks or be billed twice: the clicks stay unbilled and are charged on the next monthly run once payment goes through. If a Spotlight or Featured payment fails, your placement pauses after a 7-day grace period until payment succeeds.
Spotlight and Featured
What's the difference between Spotlight and Featured?
Spotlight makes your listing stand out inside the regular list. Featured puts you in a separate showcase above the map, shown to everyone before they see the list. They're separate products: Featured doesn't include the Spotlight tag, and only 5 businesses per city can hold a Featured spot.
Do I need both Spotlight and Featured?
No. They're separate, and most businesses choose one. Spotlight makes your listing stand out in the regular list (orange tag, outline and map star). Featured places you in the showcase above the map, with a purple star. You can add both if you want both effects.
Can I buy Spotlight or Featured without pay-per-click?
No. They're add-ons for active advertisers. The flat monthly fee is billed separately and never counts against your click budget.
How are Featured spots ordered?
First come, first placed. The order is fixed, so your card doesn't rotate in and out. If you cancel and later return, you go to the back of the line.
Cancelling and refunds
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can pause or stop pay-per-click advertising whenever you like from your dashboard, and your free listing stays up either way. Spotlight and Featured are month to month with no contract: use the Cancel button next to your plan in your dashboard anytime, and your placement continues until the end of the month you've paid for.
Do you give refunds?
Clicks that were real and delivered aren't refunded, and invalid clicks are credited. Flat add-on fees aren't refunded for partial months. If a placement didn't run because of an error on our side, we credit that period. The full policy is in our Terms of Service.
